To Strahan

Leaving cold,wet and windy Queenstown

Had a chance to see the Steam train leave for Strahan

Little bit of blue sky is showing but not for long

In the meantime Werner has got warm climbing this hill and the rain gear has come off

Rain gear on again

Our new home for the next 3 days

We went for a late afternoon walk into town along the waterfront

To Queenstown

The weather was terrible as you see in the photo

So much water on the roads and heaps of hills

Made it to Queenstown and it is still raining. Did you notice I gave the van a bit of a Christmas dress up seeing I did'nt have a tree

Werner arrived wet and cold so it was time to dry everything out

A look at Queenstown from a lookout which shows the way I drove in

Rest day Rosebery

The being of our walk to the beautiful water falls

The track had heaps of ferns and trees each side

After walking for about 5km we arrived at the falls

Photo of us with falls in the back ground

I loved this long swing bridge

I wanted to shake the bridge with Werner on it but he kept telling me to think about the camera he was carrying just excuses I think

Werner said I'm getting better at taking photos

The scenery was so much like NZ

Christmas Morning

We missed being with our family at this time of the year. They all gathered at Allan and Corrina's place. Corrina cooked a beautiful ham and arranged other things.Michael, Bernie and Mark brought other stuff as well.
It was great to talk and see them all on Skype. A photo Allan sent to my phone looked like it was a beautiful Christmas breakfast. So it was time for me to wipe away a few tears and enjoy the rest of the day.

Even on Christmas day I have to give Santa support

This one is for the Grandchildren Caleb and Isabel

To Rosebery

Again the morning started off miserable and damp from the fog

A bit lower in altitude and it looks already a lot better like the fog is lifting

Werner is trying to race the truck up the hill

Lake Rosebery about 16 km before Rosebery and Mt Murchison in the back

Last climb for today. Was a hard work for the van, the steepest I have been so far. 4 km up and climbing from 175 m to 495 m

Bottom of Rosebery where I parked and did some last minute shopping

This is the outlook just behind the cabin we are in for 4 days

To Cradle Mountain

Rain gear for Werner today because it is terrible weather

Werner is climbing this big hill and just about made it to the top

The view from the top of this big hill which is 930 meters above sea level. The poor van was struggling a bit

Looking back up this hill. Werner reached 74 km/h coming down

Waiting for Werner at the turn off to Cradle Mountain

Long last he is turning up because of so many hills today and still more to come

We both made it to Dove Lake and Cradle Mountain. I cheated and had to take the free shuttle bus

Me on our 6 km walk around the lake

Poor Werner had to walk around too. If he would have swam across the lake as well he just about would have done a Triathlon today

It doesn't get much better than this
