Started riding again

On Thursday we went back into Perth to finalize a few more things. Also, we had to get the Tandem from Bike force. Ashley had to finish it as Mickey went home sick in the early afternoon.

Looks like NZ.

This is the view Jenny will see a lot over the next 18 months. What about this Tree!!!

Saturday morning we started with our riding. We went out and spent about 3 ½ hours riding the smaller Roads. We eventually got on to the Great Northern Highway just south of Bindoon. There was a lot of traffic till we made it to Muchea. The big Road trains did give us enough room even on some stretches along, where we didn’t have much of a shoulder. We had a drink and something to eat at the corner shop where the old Road house used to be.

Our Cheerleader along Railway Rd. Ready to go till the next Shower arrives.

Sunday was a bit of a mixed day as far as the weather was concerned. We went to Muchea ea and cycled along Railway Rd heading south as far as we could go, well past the Air Force Base before we had to turn left towards the Great Northern Highway. From here it was another 8 km back to Bullsbrock for a break. We had another 14 km to do to get back to Mikes place. Overall we stopped about 4 times because of all the showers that we had. Luckily we didn’t get drenched or even wet as we have been always on the edge of all that rain. Plus for half of the ride we have been heading straight into a strong head wind. That’s the southerly that brings all this nice rain
and cold wind.

Rain is coming just as we got back. Have a look how strong the wind is.

My first week of Retirement

Today is the first full week, since I stopped working. I can’t say that we had a relaxing time. It was all go at all the time. This is a summary of the past week.

On Thursday we did do another trip out to Lower Chittering with a fully loaded Van. We hoped to get away with one more load on Friday after the settlement was finalized. We also repacked some of the gear that was already in the Container. It was about 4.30 pm by the time we arrived back in Warwick.

The next day we carried on the same as yesterday, loading the Van, cleaning etc. By about 12.30 pm we received the Phone call from the settlement agent telling us everything went as planned and that she was on her way to the Bank. We had about 1 ½ to 2 hours work to do, before we finally closed the back door for the last time.

We had planned to stay for the night in a Motel in Scarborough and relax and wind down from a couple of very hectic months. The Motels name was Sun moon and we only can recommend it. We had planned to go out for dinner, but by the time we were ready, we went for a little walk and had a nice Ice cream and on the way back to the Motel we past Subway and had a bite to eat there.

On Saturday morning we took a detour to Fremantle so we could have a Coffee at Bike Force and catch up with a few people there. The rest of the morning we spent driving around to look for a Laptop for Mark. By the time we eventually got to Mike’s and Bernie it was already late afternoon. We didn’t do any unloading till Sunday morning. Again it was pulling boxes out of the Container and rearranging the storing of the boxes. By the time we finished, it must have been well after lunch and Allan, Corrina and Caleb came up from Ellenbrock for a visit and Caleb wanted to have a ride on his bike.

Monday morning we had to be back in Perth to arrange a few things in the Bank. That went well, but we had to go back on Thursday again to finalize a couple more things. Next was a visit to Medicare and HBF for change of addresses. Telstra was the next stop where we spent about 2 hours sorting some really messy things out. It is quite amazing the different department you speak to about the same problem and how many different answers we got.

Tuesday not much happened other than we had to do another trip back to Perth to see Mickey at Bike Force in South Perth. Jenny and I had planned to go on the Tandem to Bulls Brock and back to start our training. We had the bike serviced about 3 to 4 weeks prior and replaced the chain, tyres and a few more things. Mickey also showed me a few things about adjusting etc. but we never took the bike for a test ride, as we already had our hands full with a lot of other things. So when we tried to start riding the chain was slipping very badly and it was impossible to start riding up hill. Mickey had to order a chain ring set, because nothing in stock was the right part. So we left the Tandem in the good hands of Mickey.

On Wednesday we stayed home and not much got done plus I was coming down with a cold. Just what I needed.

We are on the MOVE

Last Monday the 9th we got the Container delivered to Lower Chittering . We are very grateful to Bill and Moira for letting us store the Container at the back of the Shed. Bill and Moira are the parents of Bernie (Mike's future wife) . They will be living probably for another 2-3 years up in Tom Price before they move down here.

We have been lucky, that the weather stayed nice, so there was no problem for the Truck to drive through the grounds to where we wanted the Container to be dropped off.

Just about finish sliding the Container of the deck. After we finished leveling the Container, we started shifting some gear into it. We already had made 2 trips over the last week and stored it in the shed ready to go into the Container.

Another load ready to be dropped of and shifted inside the Container. This was on Friday late afternoon.

On Saturday morning Jenny and I made another trip with the Van and Trailer. Before we could continue with loading, we had to rearrange most of the furniture and boxes to make more room. Before that, we only dropped of the gear and moved it straight into the Container.

We should have only 2 more loads with the Van and all is done. At the moment we have hardly anything in the house.

( We put up the Tent in the Games room and practicing sleeping on a Mattress of only 38 mm thick) . Ha Ha Ha
