To Atherton

Today the weather was terrible this was taken at the turn off in Gordonvale Werner has a rain coat on but the water spraying up as the cars go past wont help a bit.

This was the start of a 19 km hill with 200 corners in it, should be interesting with the rain and fog.

Werner has made it up this far very well and is just about to stop at a lookout that you cant see a thing because of the fog.Its about 3/4 of the way from the bottom of the 19km hill

Great only 3 km to go.

A curtain fig tree we stopped and saw just out of Yungaburra.Werner absolutely loves these trees, well at least loves taking photos of them

Arrived at Atherton safely not one of the safest pieces of roads to drive on today but I made it ok.

Rest day Cairns

We drove up to have a look at Port Douglas and on our way up we stopped at different spots to have a look at the coast line. The weather was not the best and the wind was very strong.

This is at Port Douglas beach, they had a stinger net out for people to swim in.It was too windy for us so back to the van we went.

There was this beautiful church by the sea and you could even see the water from out of the window behind the altar

on our way back to cairns we stopped here and you can see for miles up the coast and the tide was out so there were people down by the rocks getting crabs or something.

Cairns Rest day

We went up to Kuranda to have a bit of a look around

Werner on the board walk down to the waterfall lookout

It took you half way up into the tree canopy.Have a look at the massive vine above me

The Barron falls are very small at the moment but suppose to be massive in the rainy season

7.5 km long Skyrail which looks very impressive

Train station at Barron falls

Kuranda Station which had lots of plants along the platforms
