To Cloncurry

Only about 82km to Cloncurry today as you can see the roads are long and straight



Good to see only 5km to go and I am looking forward to be able to go shopping at woolworths and pay only $2 for bread instead of $5 as well as other things that have been very expensive in the small places over the last few days,which I can understand why,but I still don't like paying high prices for things



I booked into a cabin at Cloncurry as I thought Werner would really enjoy some home comforts after the last few days of tough riding and of course I think its great too. Just to be able to move around in something bigger than the van for a change

To Rest Area QT 628

Another tough day for Werner because of head winds.We start before 6am in the morning and it is still very dark.Usually the wind is not so strong for the first couple of hours but not today,it was there first thing.



I arrived at Burke and Wills roadhouse to wait for Werner and I could see Jack and Janet's camper in the CG



After talking to them for awhile I went and had a hot chocolate drink at the roadhouse as the morning are starting to get a lot cooler now.



This is my first look at our rest area for tonight.I just have to find a shady spot to park,no worries I can do off road driving under a tree near by.



Werner arrived really stuffed,but at least I had a nice shady spot organized

To Cowan Downs Rest Area

At our lunch spot Jack and Janet caught up with us so it was time for a group photo before they head off this should be our last meeting.



lots of long road trains on this stretch of road, but I have been very lucky that none have had to pass me.Its not that I'm too fast ( HA HA ) Its just seems we are not on the road at the same time



Werner might be smiling now but by the end of today he won't be, as the head winds are terrible



On both sides of the road were fields of termite mounds.Looked like a cemetery



Werner took a Nana nap hoping the wind might die down a bit before carrying on after 4 pm.



It had just started to get dark by the time Werner arrive at this rest area. We had a cold dinner of potato salad,beans, and turkey all out of tins. But traveling as we are those are the only options you have some times as we have no frig and sometimes no shop for days.
